When I heard the first single titled “Travesty” off of Haste the Day’s new album titled “Attack of the Wolf King” (not too fond if the name) I was a bit skeptical. I did like the technicality that seemed to be missing in HTD’s previous albums, and they definitely seemed to be going for a more melodic sound. I’m all for that but it seemed like their heaviness was definitely disappearing. I was bummed about that. After they released a few more songs I still held the same opinion. Then today I see that they were streaming the whole album. So I quickly headed over there. Some songs had their heavier moments, but overall it just didn’t really have HTD’s sound that we’ve come to know and love. This makes sense though, as they only have one original member left. Without Brennan the choruses seem to suffer just a bit. They aren’t bad, but it just doesn’t feel like Haste the Day. But don’t get me wrong, I really like the album, I’m all for melodic metalcore, and I can see why they are proud of the album, it’s got some beautiful melody. The guitar work is absolutely fantastic and genius. I love the direction they are going in trying to be much more technical. I just hope in their next album they can retain the melody and technicality while bringing in some more heaviness.

So my first post on Tumblr. I like it. So life is pretty good right now. I just recently learned that when you really want something you have to be patient. You can’t always have it right away. Patience is truly a virtue, and sometimes you just need it. Well Camps Farthest Out aka CFO is coming up on Saturday. I couldn’t be more excited. I need a recharge in my relationship with God.
